The son of an executive of the Carnation Company, Baitz was raised in Brazil and South Africa before the family returned to made his playwriting debut in Los Angeles with a one-act play called Mizlansky/Zilinsky. Thirteen years and several acclaimed dramas later, Baitz has added an intermission and a subtitle ("or `Schmucks'") for its New York premiere. Like his other plays, it's a verbally dazzling, impossibility fast-paced showdown between contemporary I-got-mine business ethics and whatever it takes to say no to them.
