A high precision mixing/calender two-roll laboratory mill retains its clean room status but adds the roll reversal mix assist system to improve and automatically reproduce the same batch quality time after time, according to the manufacturer. This system utilizes the individual variable speed drive to each roll to provide presettable or variable friction ratio facilities during the mix cycle. However, due to the request of producing very accurate sheet sizes (more normally associated with calenders), a very accurate electric nip control/adjustment system is now fitted instead of the previous hydraulic nip adjustment. This system is said to allow extremely accurate thickness sheets to be produced to suit each individual customer's requirements. The mill utilizes a color touchscreen PLC access unit to enable manual use to predetermine the mix cycle coordinates which can then be programmed in for automatic mix cycles/product removal. (J.R.D.
