Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to Collaborate with Six Companies to Commercialize Home Robot "wakamaru".

), in collaboration with Itochu Corp., Omron Field Engineering, Sumitomo Corp., Seika Corp., BELLSYSTEM24, and Mitsubishi Corp., launched a joint effort on August 18 to market "wakamaru," MHI's unique home robot.

Equipped with sensors and image processing image processing

Set of computational techniques for analyzing, enhancing, compressing, and reconstructing images. Its main components are importing, in which an image is captured through scanning or digital photography; analysis and manipulation of the image, accomplished
 functions, wakamaru visually recognizes the members of the family that owns it and services them by providing weather forecasts and other web-enabled tools.

The six partner companies will provide support for marketing, application development, customer relations, and maintenance operations.
