Mitsubishi Gas Chemical.

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical and Himont formed a global joint venture to produce and market engineering polymer products based on MGC's polyphenylene ether resins as well as certain Himont olefin-based advanced materials and other high performance products produced via Himont's process technology. The collaboration will combine MGC's capabilities in engineering materials technology with recent developments in Himont's product research to establish a line of cost-effective, higher performance polymers. The product offering will include MGC's lupiace modified PPE resins and compounds, as well as Himont's glass-reinforced resins and a new family of high value alloys utilizing Himont's process technology. To support this venture, the companies plan to construct and operate in the United States a 20,000 metric ton per year PPE polymer facility. Start up is scheduled for the end of 1993.
