Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Awarded Ozone Contract; Will Supply Water Treatment System for Winfield, Kan.Business Editors WARRENDALE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2004 Mitsubishi Electric Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (三菱電機株式会社 Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI MEPPI Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. ) has been chosen to supply an ozone water treatment system for the city of Winfield, Kan. Walters-Morgan Construction Inc. of Manhattan, Kan., awarded MEPPI the $415,000 contract to supply the ozone system for Winfield's water treatment plant, which was designed by Professional Engineering Consultants of Wichita, Kan. The system will consist of two Mitsubishi Electric ozone generators, each skid-mounted and equipped with their own inverter (1) A logic gate that converts the input to the opposite state for output. If the input is true, the output is false, and vice versa. An inverter performs the Boolean logic NOT operation. (2) A circuit that converts DC current into AC current. The units will be assembled and tested in MEPPI's Warrendale factory; start-up of the water treatment plant is scheduled for late 2004. Once operational, the system will improve the taste and odor of Winfield's water. Ozone is one of the strongest disinfectants known. It is produced by passing an electrical charge through oxygen, creating a molecule with three atoms of oxygen, O3. This ozone molecule, when applied for drinking water drinking water supply of water available to animals for drinking supplied via nipples, in troughs, dams, ponds and larger natural water sources; an insufficient supply leads to dehydration; it can be the source of infection, e.g. leptospirosis, salmonellosis, or of poisoning, e.g. treatment, is effective in the reduction or elimination of color, taste and odor problems associated with many water supplies. Ozone can also effectively destroy bacteria and inactivate in·ac·ti·vate v. 1. To render nonfunctional. 2.
