Mitsubishi Electric Introduces World's First Contactless Fingerprint Authentication Devices.Tokyo, Japan, Sept 10, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Mitsubishi Electric Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (三菱電機株式会社 launched the Mitsubishi Finger Transmission Authentication Device, its proprietary contactless fingerprint authentication device, on September 8. The new product, which adopts a method to detect changes in the amount of light transmitted through the finger tissue, can authenticate a fingerprint regardless of whether the fingers are dried or wet. Two device comes in two types: the desktop type DT-TP and the gate-type OPG-TP. The DT-TP, available on October 11, has a processor and memory built into the body, and can be applied to various devices such as safes and lockers. The OPG-TP, available on January 4, 2006, will be suitable for entry and exit control. The DT-TP will be open-priced while the OPG-TP will retail for 490,000 yen ($4,450) or upward depending on system configurations.
