Misys Healthcare Systems Collaborates With Customers to Deliver Feature-Rich Electronic Medical Records Solution.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Electronic medical records just got easier and more efficient, thanks to Misys Healthcare Systems' latest release of Misys EMR(TM).

Now available, Misys EMR 7.0 is a flexible, content-rich electronic medical records solution that expedites record keeping processes and enables physicians to retrieve and input patient data anywhere, anytime, from a PC, handheld tablet or wireless device. The modularly designed product - which is part of the Misys Optimum(TM) family of solutions - provides a wireless point-of-care solution for physicians in the examination room, as well as electronic capabilities for routine tasks related to clinical data (such as transcription, imaging, orders management, messaging and prescription writing).

Not only did we review and incorporate customer feedback suggestions, but we asked our Misys EMR Physician Advisory Board of experienced clinicians to help guide our development efforts. And the result is a feature-rich, physician-friendly EMR that helps medical practices more easily and more efficiently handle their daily tasks."

Among the new features in Misys EMR 7.0 are:

--Preventive Health Maintenance (PHM), which uses a rules engine to support clinical guidelines and protocols. Rules can be set to track procedures or questions due for patients based on age, race, gender, diagnosis, medication, risk factor and/or lab results. The PHM module tracks patient compliance with these protocols and alerts clinicians when patients are past due for tests, questions and more. PHM also includes a reporting module that can track past due patient items, produce outcome reports, and measure HEDIS requirements.

--Risk Factors, which allows for assigning risk factors to a patient. The caregiver can either map risk factors to glossaries for use in chart note entries, or can manually assign specific risk factors to a patient.

--Medical Diagrams, which allow providers to attach diagrams and/or digital images to a chart note. The diagrams can be automatically linked to items within the template or launched on the fly via the medical diagram library. An electronic drawing tool kit allows annotation directly on the diagram or picture, and multiple patient diagrams can be compared within the chart note.

--Formularies, which are implemented in Misys EMR using a third party software application called MediMedia InfoScan Formulary Database(TM) -- containing comprehensive formulary information from managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit management companies, HMO's and PPO's. The database includes more than 3,000 formulary plans, and has more than 85 percent of all formularies - more than any other vendor. Formulary information for a drug include status, cost index, therapeutic class and subclass can be viewed before prescribing.

--Prenatal Module, which now includes a Prenatal Flow Sheet that's similar to the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) Form E prenatal flow record. Misys EMR's Prenatal Flow Sheet captures and displays information from multiple places within a patient's medical record including demographics, specific pregnancy information, visit information, risk factors, labs, allergies and medications. There are four major areas in the Prenatal Module: Pregnancy Entry, Prenatal Visit, Pregnancy Summary and Prenatal Flow Sheet report.

--New Specialty-Specific Content Libraries, with new content for a variety of specialties including cardiology, ENT, OB/GYN, orthopedics, neurology/neurosurgery, gastroenterology, physical therapy, pediatrics, urology, and more. And, as new content is available, Misys EMR clients can download these templates - free of charge - from Misys' Web site.

--Voice Capture, which provides the ability to record voice files within a chart note in Misys EMR and forward the chart note to the transcription.

--HIPAA Security Audit Trail, which gives practices an information system activity review (audit trail) and report to meet the HIPAA Security regulation.
