There is not much to judge in terms of the writing style of this book because it consists mainly of interviews regurgitated into a type-written testimonial of 331 pages, except where the authors introduce the characters. Much of what the men said in the interviews is funny and true. The men ranged in age, income and marital status marital status, n the legal standing of a person in regard to his or her marriage state. . The authors talked with people who had been through myriad experiences and could therefore speak authoritatively when offering advice or reflecting on those experiences. Mister Gumbo is a fast read separated into three sections that should give women something to think about and men characters to whom they can relate when it comes to feelings of sex, relationships and spirituality. --Reviewed by Ira Porter Ira Porter is a staff writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer Philadelphia Inquirer Morning newspaper, long one of the most influential dailies in the eastern U.S. Founded in 1847 as the Pennsylvania Inquirer, it took its present name c. 1860.
