Misonix and Focus Surgery Sign Exclusive International Distribution Agreement with Endocare.

Misonix, Inc. (Nasdaq:MSON) today announced that Focus Surgery has signed an exclusive international distribution agreement for its Sonablate(R) 500 unit with Endocare Inc. (Nasdaq:ENDO), for the minimally invasive treatment of prostate diseases using high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). The agreement covers all international geographic areas with the exception of Asia. Takai Hospital Supply Company Ltd. is the exclusive distributor of the Sonablate 500 in Asia. Misonix currently owns approximately 20% of Focus and has the rights to produce its products.

The Sonablate(R) 500 system, developed by Focus Surgery, Inc. of Indianapolis, IN, is capable of killing deep-seated cancer tissue by rapidly elevating the temperature in a precise focal zone, without affecting the intervening tissue, and without side effects such as ionization or radiation. The treatment is precise, bloodless and has minimal complications. The treatment is guided by real-time ultrasound imaging and can be used for the treatment of localized prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis.
