Michael Osterman, president and founder of Osterman Research stated, "The survey showed a high demand for mobile devices, which also means increased complexity and security risks for enterprises. Mirapoint's Mobile Access strategy is timely and has the components enterprises require including security and ease of management when deploying their mobile devices."

Mobile Messaging Threats

As confirmed in the Osterman survey, despite of message borne security threats and theft of mobility devices, enterprise mobility continues to be in demand with email and collaboration applications as the most sought after mobile applications. Only about two in five respondents' mobile devices had any sort of virus protection deployed on it, although one in eight respondents did not know if anti-virus capabilities are available on their mobile device. Mobile device anti-virus capabilities will become increasingly critical as hackers and others increasingly target mobile platforms because of the growing penetration of these devices in the workplace.
