On May 21, The Alley returns to the historic Apollo Theater

The one-night-only event will feature performances by artists of the world famous Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is a modern dance company based in New York, New York. It was founded in 1958 by choreographer and dancer Alvin Ailey. It is made up of 30 dancers as well as artistic director Judith Jamison and associate artistic director Masazumi Chaya. , the dynamic young dancers from Alley II and talented students of The Alley School.

This unprecedented performance will begin at 7 p.m. at the Apollo Theater (253 West 125th St., between 7th and 8th Avenues) and will be followed by a gala reception. Proceeds from the gala will provide scholarship assistance to talented students of The Alley School. This internationally renowned training institution serves approximately 3,500 students annually, offering more than 200 classes a week. The Alley School's Fellowship Program provides tuition assistance for gifted students from around the world who would otherwise not be able to pursue professional training at The Alley School. The Alley School is the official school of the prestigious and critically acclaimed Alvin Alley American Dance Theater.
