security system. Network managers can now administer user and group privileges using the native Windows NT User Manager function. This will save administrators a significant amount of time since they will no longer need to set up Users and Groups within PC MACLAN.

It improves performance and is required in order to implement numerous security and administrative features in the OS.  volumes are now supported in the upgrade. Additionally, PC MACLAN for Windows NT v4.1 is now completely compatible with NT Services for Mac (SfM), so files can be moved from the NT server using Services for Mac to Miramar's server, and then on to a Mac with no file corruption. NTFS support also makes backing up more efficient by keeping all Mac files together, both the data and the resource fork.

With Version 4.1, users also will benefit from having an accurate display of the volume size. Large volume files, such as graphics and databases, are correctly displayed despite the limitations of AppleTalk to accurately interpret their size.

User access to PC MACLAN's File and Printer Servers is much simpler than ever. The Print and File server services run in the background and their icon(s) now appear in the System Tray An area on the right side of the Taskbar on the Windows interface used to display the status of various functions, such as speaker volume and modem transmission. Applications also insert icons on the System Tray to give you a quick entrance into either the application itself or some . The need to launch the services is eliminated, as the services will start when the NT machine is booted. Security is thereby enhanced because there is no need to be logged in to run the services. Moving the File and Print Server to the System Tray follows the conventions that Windows NT uses for similar operations.

"The enhancements we've included in PC MACLAN for Windows NT Version 4.1 clearly demonstrate our intent to continue to keep in step with the technology within Windows NT," said Neal Rabin, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Miramar Systems. "As pre-press professionals continue to migrate to the Windows NT platform, PC MACLAN for Windows NT makes integration in this Mac-centric environment even more simplified with increased functionality. Network administrators will find the new feature set easier to use due to the use of existing NT interface conventions."

An upgrade utility is included in PC MACLAN for Windows NT v4.1 that automatically transfers file information and configurations from the previous version. With Version 4.1, users also have the option of registering NT v4.1 directly over the Internet.

System Requirements To be used efficiently, all computer software needs certain hardware components or other software resources to be present on a computer system. These pre-requisites are known as (computer) system requirements and are often used as a guideline as opposed to an absolute rule.
