Mirage & other stories.
A collection of short stories and photographs by Amy Schoeman
After many years of exposing Namibia's rugged landscapes through her lens, photographer Amy Schoeman more recently began looking at the landscapes of the human body and human mind with her provocative and sensuous gaze. In this collection of short stories she uses the lens of the written word to explore a wide range of human emotions and experiences, reflecting and exposing inner landscapes of a selection of interesting characters inhabiting her adopted country.
The stories abound with local Namibian realism. They contain humour, tenderness, sadness and anger. Some are touching, others are shocking, revealing the sharp thorns ripping at the seams of our social facades. The striking and evocative photographs provide a thought-provoking bridge between the visible world of objects and the invisible world of feelings and emotions that Schoeman explores in this highly readable collection. They will not leave the reader untouched or unmoved.
