Minorities' rights to be protected: ETPB Chairman.
HASSAN ABDAL, July 16, 2009 (Frontier Star) -- Chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board Syed Asif Hashmi has said that rights of Hindus and
Sikhs living in the country would be protected at all levels.
"Today I am very happy to see Hindus and Sikh Pakistanis displaced
by fighting in Malakand division returning to their homes", he said
during his address to a ceremony held here on Thursday at Panja Sahib Gurdwara to see off the first convoy of Hindus and Sikhs to Swat.
Additional Secretary shrines Khurram Sadique, Sardar Suran Singh, Sardar
Hindar Singh, Sardar Mehandar Singh and Sardar Senat Sindh were also
present on the occasion. Hashmi said that he feels proud to be the
custodian of worship places of Hindus and Sikhs and would not only
protect the rights of Hindus and Sikhs but also would provide all
possible facilities to Sikh Yatrees according to the instructions of
President and Prime Minister. He said that he wanted Sikh Yatrees to
visit their religious places through air journey and air conditions
would be provided at Janam Istikhan and Panja Sahib. He said that he has
spent huge funds on the decoration of religious places of Hindus and
Sikhs since he took over as chairman of the Board.
