Minolta Provides Simple, Affordable High-Quality Color Copying Solution for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses.

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1997--The Peripheral Products Division of Minolta Corporation today introduced an affordable, easy-to-use digital color copying solution for small- and medium-sized business owners. Starting at around $8,000, the Minolta Color PageWorks CF30 Copy Station integrates the functionality of a full-color, digital, A-size copier, a networkable laser printer and a scanner. This integrated solution provides users with the resources and capabilities of a large-scale production department in one compact package.

"The CF30 Copy Station benefits from Minolta's strong heritage as both a copier and a printer manufacturer, as well as our leading research and development," said Ned Umehara, general manager, Peripheral Products Division, Minolta Corporation. "Other competitors in this category simply can not match this level of expertise."

Minolta expects the Color PageWorks CF30 Copy Station to have strong appeal to small and medium business users due to its compact size, affordable price and flexibility to also function as a networkable color printer and scanner.

The CF30's copier control panel provides the functionality of high-end color copiers such as enlargement and reduction (50% - 200%), multiple copy selection, paper bin selection, brightness, and color control. At the touch of a button, the CF30 delivers sharp, crisp, clearly defined color or black-and-white copies.

At the core of the CF30 is Minolta's embedded ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  controller, which along with Minolta's Color RealTone technology enables the scanner to deliver color copies at a resolution of 2400 x 600 dpi quality. This is much higher than the 600 x 600 dpi available using standard scanning and printing solutions.

The CF30 Copy Station can produce full 8 1/2" x 11" color copies at 1 copy per minute (cpm). When outputting multiple copies of a single original, the CF30 can reproduce that original at up to 3 cpm. With the optional Automatic Document Feeder In multifunction or all-in-one printers, fax machines, photocopiers and scanners, Automatic Document Feeder or ADF is a feature which takes several pages and feeds the paper one page at a time into the scanner, allowing the user to scan (and thereby copy, print, or fax)  and Accelerator package, the CF30 can copy one to one color originals at a full 2 cpm.

The Color PageWork's CF30 Copy Station's print speed comes courtesy of Minolta's industry-leading print engine which, with the assistance of a 33MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  Intel i960 RISC processor and a QuickPrint coprocessor coprocessor

, delivers 12 pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome and 3 ppm in full color. This Dual Processing Technology enables the printer engine to handle complex documents much faster than conventional processing technologies.

The CF30 Copy Station supports a wide variety of paper types, including plain, recycled, transparencies, labels, letterhead, post cards, and thick paper (up to 90 lb. index). Toner cartridge replacement is simple with Minolta's patented Toner Cartridge Carousel system.

You can connect the Color PageWorks CF30 Copy Station to a PC through the standard IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  1284 bi-directional parallel interface to support ECP (Enhanced Capabilities Port) See IEEE 1284.
