MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 2000

Minntech Corporation (Nasdaq: MNTX), a worldwide leader in hemodialysis products and services, today announced the introduction of the Renapak 2(TM) Concentrate Manufacturing System. The Renapak 2(TM), which will be exhibited at the 31st Annual National Symposium of the American Nephrology nephrology

Branch of medicine dealing with kidney function and diseases. An understanding of kidney physiology is important not only in treating kidney disease but in knowing the effect of drugs, diet, and hypertension on kidney disease, and vice versa.
Nursing Association in Nashville, TN (April 9-12, 2000), provides dialysis clinics with an innovative, quality-conscious method of producing their own hemodialysis concentrates.

Hemodialysis concentrates are mixed with purified water Purified water can come from any source, including spring water, well water, seawater, or municipal water. This source water is then processed by reverse osmosis or deionization to produce a water that is indistinguishable from distilled water from any other source.  to make dialysate dialysate /di·al·y·sate/ (di-al´i-sat) the fluid and solutes in a dialysis process that flow through the dialyzer, do not pass through the membrane, and are discarded along with removed toxic substances after leaving the dialyzer. , a fluid used in hemodialysis treatments to both nourish and clean the bloodstream by drawing toxins out and replacing kidney-regulated chemicals and electrolytes. These concentrates are sold in powder or liquid form.

"Hemodialysis clinics operate in an extremely cost-contained environment," said Marlin Rudebusch, Marketing Director of Minntech Renal Systems Division. "Freight and shipping charges and required storage space for pre-mixed dialysate concentrate can add significantly to treatment costs. With the Renapak 2(TM) system, customers can easily and economically produce high-quality concentrates, when they need them, in less than 30 minutes."

Minntech offers a full line of pre-measured powdered sodium acetate and bicarbonate concentrate formulas for use with the Renapak 2(TM) system. Each bag of U.S.P. A unique labeling system allows users to "peel-and-stick" powder package labels directly into the provided Renapak "Master Record" for an efficient visual record suitable for documentation purposes.

"Minntech has been a market leader in hemodialysis concentrates since the Company was founded over 25 years ago," added Thomas J.
