Erlandson's work for MYDP combines public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most and hands-on outreach. "The most important part of this work for me has been the relationships I've developed with young people," she said. "For example, through street outreach we're able to really connect with young people and get a sense of where they're at and what their needs are." Additionally, by sharing their stories she helps the public understand MYDP and the vulnerable young people that it supports. "She's quite phenomenal," said Mary Weeks, executive director of Minneapolis Youth Diversion Program. "She's a long-term volunteer and works directly with clients. Her involvement has ranged from street outreach for at-risk youth to facilitating a support group with young women who have been involved in prostitution. She adds a lot more than her public relations expertise. This award is very well deserved."
