Ministry of Environment Japan (MOEJ) to Hold 'Challenges to Achieve Low Carbon Society - 1st Anniversary of Kyoto Protocol' Symposium in Tokyo.Tokyo, Japan, Feb 1, 2006 - (JCN JCN Japan Corporate News JCN Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience JCN Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing JCN Journal of Christian Nursing JCN Job Control Number JCN Journal of Child Neurology JCN joint communications network (US DoD) ) - The Ministry of Environment Japan (MOEJ MOEJ Mobile Office Entry Jumpstart (IBM) ) has announced details of the 'Challenges to achieve Low Carbon Society - 1st anniversary of Kyoto Protocol' symposium to be Feb. 16, 2006, at the "Spiral" Hall in Tokyo. This symposium focuses on current situation of global warming, meaning of Kyoto Protocol, pathway toward low carbon society (LCS LCS - Language for Communicating Systems ) and its feasibility. We'd like to discuss what kinds of countermeasures we need to take action now to achieve LCS based on long-term perspectives. Since Kyoto Protocol has brought into effect on Feb. 16th 2005, concrete countermeasures to tackle with global warming are required. At UNFCCC UNFCCC United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP/MOP1 and COP11 in Montreal during Nov.28th to Dec.9th, delegates adopted the ground rules for administering the Kyoto Protocol and reached agreement on text for future action. In Japan, a research project on "Japan Low Carbon Society Scenarios toward 2050" (Global Environment Fund, MoEJ) has been conducted since April 2004 and more than 50 researchers have investigated pathways to realize LCS from various aspects. The UK published Energy White paper "Our energy future - creating a low carbon economy" in 2003 to put a path to cut the UK's carbon dioxide carbon dioxide, chemical compound, CO2, a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that is about one and one-half times as dense as air under ordinary conditions of temperature and pressure. emissions by some 60% by about 2050 with real progress by 2020, such as UK Energy Research Center (UKERC) was established in 2004 to achieve sustainable energy economy and the 40% House project studies behavioural and technological changes in the search for how UK households can meet the 60% target. The symposium, organized by MOEJ, with co-organizers British Embassy to Japan and National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES NIES National Institute for Environmental Studies NIEs Newly Industrializing Economies NIES Northern Ireland Electricity Service NIES NIMA Integrated Exploitation System ) is free with registration.
