Ministry of Economy and Trade Working on National Strategy for Protecting Intellectual Property.

Damascus, (SANA) -- The Ministry of Economy and Trade, in cooperation with authorities concerned, is working to devise a general strategy for protecting intellectual property to protect investors and attract foreign agencies.In a statement to SANA, Director of the Department of Commercial and Industrial Property Protection at the Ministry of Economy and Trade Jamil al-Asaad said the general strategy for protecting intellectual program is based on a five-year plan leading to developing activities for registering intellectual property rights, thus providing effective protection and guarantee for the owners of these rights.Al-Asaad pointed out that this step will help encourage investments, as it will protect companies, projects and creativity, establishing an integrated national infrastructure.Aa This plan takes into account the special needs of each sector, establishing a network among various sectors, he added.The strategy will work to spread awareness about intellectual property via a program that the ministry began carrying out two years ago, in addition to cooperating with the Syrian chambers of commerce and industry to make guide books about trademarks and industrial schematics and models according to according to
