LANGHORNE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1999--

The Turck Inc. Web site, www.turck.com, recently went live with an electronic version of the Turck Sensors print catalog catalog, descriptive list, on cards or in a book, of the contents of a library. Assurbanipal's library at Nineveh was cataloged on shelves of slate. The first known subject catalog was compiled by Callimachus at the Alexandrian Library in the 3d cent. B.C. .

Turck is the U.S. market leader in the manufacturer and sale of proximity sensors. The electronic catalog will advance the current success of the print catalog by offering search capabilities above and beyond the printed book. This project was developed under the Banta Book Group and Millstar Electronic Publishing Group's technology alliance, established more than two years ago to create electronic catalogs and streamlined print/electronic publishing processes for Banta's business-to-business catalog customers.

of the Sensors print catalog which allows Turck to add new sensors data, and the entire contents of the Cordsets print catalog. The database drives the content of the online catalog Similar to an online library or databases in the information storage respect, ‘’’online catalogs’’’ allow potential customers to browse a company’s items for sale from a different location using the internet. ; the data maintenance application allows the online catalog to be dynamic, since data changes will be rapidly applied to the site.

The online electronic catalog assists Turck's internal sales force, Turck distributors, and mechanical engineer Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Users can search for a desired proximity sensor, which detect specific materials with a 1" range, by specifying any portion of the part number or ID number.

In addition, a user can define attributes of a desired sensor, and view a list of matching part numbers. Once a sensor is selected, a user can generate a specification sheet, an attribute summary, view a dimensional drawing, download a DXF DXF - Drawing Exchange Format  version of the dimensional drawing, or view the wiring diagram. Users can also link to matching cordsets and accessories.

Desired sensors, cordsets, and accessories can be added to a Requisition form requisition form Lab slip Lab medicine A form used to request specific lab tests–eg, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, cytology, HIV, pathology, etc. See Results. . Printed forms can be faxed to the Sales Office as Request for Quotes (RFQ's).

Other features of the online catalog include: Sales Office locator, Technical Information section, and a Feedback function.
