 "Mr. Mom," as he tries to sell an eccentric music producer's home while also starting a family with his partner, attorney Craig Gatarz. The Advocate asked Denver Realtor Jeff Hammerberg of GayRealEstate.com to touch base with Wegmann by telephone.

What fraction of your clientele is gay or lesbian?

I would say 60%. I also have a lot of straight clients.

I think you'll find gay people will want a house with more character--more flair, potential for entertaining. But that's changing, where my clients now are starting to have kids, like me. Now it's becoming important [to ask], What are the schools? Is there a good kids' room? Is it safe? Is it gated?

How did you get into real estate?

I worked very hard for years [at] IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
, Paramount, and my own educational software company. I've always loved real estate: I grew up on a farm in Iowa. [After I sold my company] I bought and remodeled three homes and got my license. I've done really well at it. With real estate I have to work only about half as hard, and I make twice the money. It's the life that I really want, especially now that we have kids.

How old are your twins?
