Weyerhaeuser's Dryden mill is one of 90 companies expressing an interest in the Ministry of Energy's request for proposals for renewable energy Renewable energy utilizes natural resources such as sunlight, wind, tides and geothermal heat, which are naturally replenished. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power, and hydroelectricity to biomass and biofuels for transportation.  projects.

The company is considering the potential of developing a multimillion-dollar energy project, which would generate 70 to 85 megawatts of electricity from wood waste.
