Military and communications conference returns to San Diego. (Advertising Supplement).


West 2003, AFCEA AFCEA Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association  International and the U.S. Naval Institute's annual conference and exposition, returns to the. San Diego Convention Center The San Diego Convention Center is the main convention center for the city of San Diego, California. It is located in the Marina district of downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp Quarter, at 111 West Harbor Drive.  Tuesday, Jan. 14 through Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003. This year's theme, "The Next Step: From Change to Transformation" will explore the impact of transformation on each of the services and the joint staff.

Co-sponsored by AFCEA International and the U.S. Naval Institute, West 2003 is the largest conference and exposition on the West Coast for communications, electronics, aviation, shipbuilding, intelligence, information systems, imaging, military weapon systems, and more. West 2003 offers attendees the opportunity to hear topnotch speakers in their fields, participate in panel sessions, discuss timely issues in today's military, and preview state-of-the-art technologies from more than 300 defense exhibitors at the West 2003 exposition.

The conference includes an impressive lineup of speakers who will share their perspectives on transformation, including:

* GEN Richard B. Myers, USAF, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff *

* ADM Thomas B. Fargo Admiral Thomas Boulton Fargo (born June 1948) served in the United States Navy during the late 20th century and early 21st century. He served as Commander, United States Pacific Command, at Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii from May 2, 2002 to February 26, 2005. , USN, Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Command

* ADM Walter F. Doran, USN, Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet *

* ADM Thomas H. Collins Admiral Thomas H. Collins, USCG(ret.), served as the 22nd Commandant of the United States Coast Guard from 2002 to 2006.

Prior to becoming Commandant, he served as the Coast Guard's Vice Commandant, the number two post, from 2000 - 2002 where he created the Innovation

Five panel sessions will provide West attendees the opportunity to dialogue with experts about their transformation challenges. Topics include the changing role of aircraft and ships, becoming net-centric, the future of the services, and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security Noun 1.  and its impact on defense. Military, government and industry leaders will guide these panel sessions. Both industry and government will display their products and solutions for transformation, homeland security, communications, electronics and more at the West exposition. Many exhibitors will be unveiling new technologies at the event.

As always, admission to the exposition, panel sessions, and specified addresses is free to all pre-registrants. On-site registration is free to members of AFCEA or the U.S. Naval Institute, military personnel, government employees, and employees of corporate sponsors and exhibiting companies.
