The Stanley Cup Playoffs will begin on either Wednesday, April 9 or Thursday, April 10. Mighty Ducks playoff opponents, confirmed home dates and start times are yet to be determined.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs consist of four elimination rounds: Conference Quarterfinals, Conference Semifinals, Conference Finals and the Stanley Cup Finals. All Stanley Cup Playoff series will be played under a best-of-seven games format. The top eight teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs, based on points earned through the regular season, with division champions earning the three highest seeds in each conference.

In the Quarterfinal round, seed one plays seed eight, seed two plays seed seven, seed three plays seed six and seed four plays seed five. The higher seed of each series will receive home-ice advantage, hosting four of a possible seven games in the series.

The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in North America. It is 110-years-old and was first presented in 1893 to Montreal A.A.A., the amateur hockey champions of Canada. The cup was donated by Frederick Arthur, Lord Stanley of Preston and son of the Earl of Derby “Lord Stanley” redirects here.
