Midnight Networks ports ANVL test tool to HP and Digital platforms, adds support for DECnet protocol; Customers benefit from additional platform/OS options, ability to test DECnet devices.


WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 1996--Midnight Networks announced today that it has ported its network testing product ANVL ANVL Automated Network Validation Library  (Automated Network Validation Library) to the HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.

As a result, ANVL now operates on Digital Alpha workstations running Digital UNIX and HP 9000 workstations running HP-UX. ANVL, a software-based testing system that validates protocol compliance and operational robustness of multi-protocol network devices, can also be operated on Sun workstations running the SunOS 4.1 or Solaris operating systems.

Midnight Networks also announced that it has added support for the DECnet Phase IV protocol to ANVL so that ANVL can send and receive DECnet packets. Sample DECnet tests have been implemented and are available to ANVL customers who are interested in writing a DECnet test suite.

Pricing and Specifications

Pricing for ANVL starts at $15,000 and is based on the number of test suites and supported media licensed. As part of the ANVL package, Midnight Networks provides source code licenses and training. Custom development of tests, protocols, and supported media types is also available.
