Midisoft adds waveform audio recording/ editing and lyrics to new MIDI Kit 2.0.


ISSAQUAH, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 1995--Midisoft Corp. (NASDAQ/NM:MIDI) has started shipping MIDI Kit 2.0, an upgrade to one of its most popular products.

MIDI Kit is a multimedia accessory consisting of a MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface (music, hardware, protocol, file format) Musical Instrument Digital Interface - (MIDI /mi'-dee/, /mee'-dee/) A hardware specification and protocol used to communicate note and effect information between synthesisers, computers, music keyboards, controllers, and other electronic ) adapter cable and Recording Session Plus. Recording Session Plus is included free with the MIDI Kit.

The Windows software, in conjunction with the MIDI adapter cable, enables users to record from a MIDI instrument, edit music easily using a mouse, assign instrument sounds to tracks and play back compositions.

The two most important new features in Recording Session Plus are: waveform audio See digital audio.  (.WAV) recording and the ability to add lyrics to music. MIDI Kit 2.0 has a suggested retail price of $79.95 (U.S.), and an upgrade to the software is available to registered MIDI Kit users for $19.95.

 and acoustic instruments digitally with a standard microphone, and then integrate this digital audio along with MIDI tracks to create a song. The program makes it very easy to record .WAV files The native digital audio format in Windows. Using the .WAV file extension, 8- or 16-bit samples can be taken at rates of 11,025 Hz, 22,050 Hz and 44,100 Hz. The highest quality (16-bit at 44,100 Hz) is the sampling rate of an audio CD and uses 88KB of storage per second.  and accurately place them anywhere in the song. Any number of .WAV files can be placed on the digital audio track.

With the new lyrics feature, a user can now add words to any MIDI track containing notes. Lyrics are entered via a simple dialog box A movable window that is displayed on screen in response to the user selecting a menu option. It provides the current status and available options for a particular feature in the program. . The software automatically informs the user how many syllables are available for each measure, which depends on the number of notes or chords resident in the measure. The syllables are then automatically tied to the notes by the software.
