Mix the butter, sugar, corn syrup and salt in a medium-sized bowl. Microwave on high until melted, then boil for 2 minutes. Stir in baking soda and vanilla. Put popped popcorn in a paper bag, pour caramel mixture over, and shake. Cook it in the microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove the bag from the microwave and shake again. Microwave on high for 1 minute more. Remove and shake once again. Empty into a large bowl, let it cool and serve.
