Anderson Jacobson Inc. was founded in 1967 and in 1988 was acquired by MicroTel's CXR Telcom Corp. subsidiary in Fremont, Calif. The Anderson Jacobson name has been used in the United States and Europe as the trade name for all network access and transmission products. The CXR name was used as the trade name for all test instrument products. The Anderson Jacobson name is a historic and well-recognized brand name for telecommunications transmission products. Anderson Jacobson Inc. invented and sold the first acoustic couplers used to transmit data over public telephone lines. This product evolved into today's voice frequency modems, which were pioneered and developed by Anderson Jacobson among others. In 2002 MicroTel decided to discontinue the sale of test instruments in Europe and has subsequently centered all of its manufacturing and sales responsibility for network access and transmission products with its CXR SAS (France) subsidiary. CXR SAS (France) had previously used CXR Anderson Jacobson as a trade name for its network access and transmission products. As previously announced, CXR SAS (France) is no longer in the test instruments business in Europe, therefore the decision has been made to formally change the name to CXR Anderson Jacobson, reflecting MicroTel's subsidiary's total concentration of effort on network access and transmission products.
