Micromass Collaborates with Proteomics Company.

Montreal, Quebec and Manchester, England 11/21/00-Waters' subsidiary, Micromass UK, has formed a collaboration with Canadian proteomics company Caprion Pharmaceuticals to develop new processes for proteomics research. Micromass will invest $7.5 million in Caprion to fund the development of a large-scale proteomics facility in Canada. Micromass will also provide mass spectrometry systems in exchange for equal profit sharing of any revenues that result from the collaboration . The agreement will last at least three years.

Both companies can do little in proteomics without one another and this collaboration. In addition, Waters has quickly reacted to the recent surge in proteomic collaborations between companies by forming one of its own. The importance of proteomics is evident industry wide and Waters has smartly moved to join this new phase of life science research.
