Microbus Introduces Compact Single Board Computer with Pentium MMX processor featuring both PCI and PC/104plus expansion.HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 1997--Microbus has introduced the MAT842 card set, a Pentium processor-based product designed for portable and embedded systems. The MAT842 'short card' supports the Pentium, Pentium MMX, and AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips. K6 processors at speeds to 233MHz and higher with 512KBytes L2 cache and up to 256Mbytes RAM. The PC/104plus interface is standard, supporting both ISA (1) (Instruction Set Architecture) See instruction set. (2) (Interactive Services Association) See Internet Alliance. (3) (Internet Security and Acceleration) See .NET. and PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS. (2) (Peripheral Component Interconnect) The most widely used I/O bus (peripheral bus). PC/104 expansion modules. For embedded applications, a Flash solid state disk of 4MB or 8MB is available as a bootable read-only or read-write device. Basic features include a Flash BIOS, PCI IDE hard disk/CD-ROM controller, floppy controller, two serial ports, a parallel port, and ports for a keyboard and PS/2(R) mouse. The board dimensions are 8.66" x 4.8" (220 x 122mm). Expansion is very flexible, allowing the use of ISA, PCI, PC/104, and PC/104plus expansion cards or modules. PC/104 expansion modules enhance functionality: -- VID864 PCI 2MB SVGA (Super VGA) A screen resolution of 800x600 pixels. Third-party vendors extended IBM's VGA display standard and were the first to use the term. SVGA has also referred to 1,024x768 resolutions. MIO has been superseded by EIO. See EIO. 867 PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, San Jose, CA, www.pcmcia.org) An international standards body and trade association that was founded in 1989 to establish a standard for connecting peripherals to portable computers. See Bcl-2. 847 one SBC slot + one ISA + two PCI expansion slots -- BAK850 one SBC slot + two ISA + three PCI expansion slots -- Slimline ISA - 2, 4, and 6-slot The board may also operate stand-alone, requiring just a +5VDC input. -- Flat panel support. Microbus provides support for many popular flat panels and is continually adding support for new panels. -- CE and EMI. For designs where integrity and EMI protection are priorities, the card includes design features to protect system stability and reduce EMI. The cards of this set are being CE marked, having met electromagnetic compatibility requirements when tested in a typical system. -- OEM features. Microbus SBCs feature software-readable serial numbers, Microbus CUSTOM BIOS, non-volatile back-up of CMOS setup information, and true OEM technical support. Microbus specializes in the design and manufacture of custom and standard single board computers for embedded, ISA, and PCI systems, offering a complete line of SBCs based on 286 through Pentium processors.
