ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 1997--MicroMed Healthcare Information Systems Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary

A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock.

of Quality Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:QSII), Wednesday announced that it has signed an agreement with St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC SARMC search and rescue mission coordinator (US DoD) ), a member of Holy Cross Health System, to provide an enterprise practice-management solution for its outpatient integrated delivery network.

SARMC, founded in 1895 and serving practitioners in southern Idaho Southern Idaho is a generic geographical term roughly analogous with the areas of the U.S. state of Idaho located in the Mountain Time Zone. It particularly refers to the combined areas of the Boise metropolitan area, the Magic Valley and Eastern Idaho. , will utilize the MicroMed enterprise practice-management solution in order to provide integrated practice management throughout its IDS and the physicians it serves.

Leslie Kelly Hall, vice president and chief information officer for SARMC, commented: ``After reviewing over 60 vendors representing a myriad of technologies and experiences, SARMC chose MicroMed because of its intuitive ease of use, client-server architecture client-server architecture

``We were able to go live in four sites on the same day, integrating with our Master Patient Index In medical systems the Master Patient Index (MPI) is an index referencing all patients known to an area, enterprise or organization. The terms Patient Master Index (PMI) and Master Person Index are used interchangeably.  (MPI MPI - Message Passing Interface ) and converting patient history from multiple legacy systems. The product and company have proven their technical capabilities with an excellent customer-service focus not found in many existing practice- management providers.

``We rank MicroMed as one of our top vendor relationships established this year. We will achieve our ROI (Return On Investment) The monetary benefits derived from having spent money on developing or revising a system. In the IT world, there are more ways to compute ROI than Carter has liver pills (and for those of you who never heard of that expression, it means a lot).  in less than 18 months with the implementation of MicroMed, and the subsequent elimination of the existing systems and outsourced staff. The integration with our MPI will enable us to readily identify all Medicare patients and more easily and efficiently address the `72 Hour Rule' regulatory requirements.

``Clearly, MicroMed has embraced the newest technology available, and in doing so is redefining the future of practice- management systems in health care.''

Added Steve Puckett, president of MicroMed: ``We are exceptionally pleased to have been chosen by SARMC because we know they reviewed dozens of vendors. Our being selected is proof positive that MicroMed provides a premium practice-management product. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial Adj. 1. mutually beneficial - mutually dependent

MicroMed is one of the most feature-rich applications available for practice management. The ability to access the MPI and rapidly schedule appointments through the application, as well as being able to scan images of patient insurance and identification cards to be stored in the patient files, saves the user time.

The billing and collections module readily handles managed care, capitation and fee-for-service reimbursements while editing claims prior to submission to create clean claims and to shorten A/R days. The smooth workflow across the various modules creates improved operational efficiencies for both the practice and central management offices.

Sheldon Razin, chief executive officer of Quality Systems, said of the agreement: ``We are excited about MicroMed's agreement with St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, and we believe our technology and their needs are a good fit. We are pleased to see our newly acquired MicroMed subsidiary moving forward with their marketing plans and developing new client relationships.''
