--New Consortium Established to Increase Breadth of Legacy Platforms Supported; Scottish Life Migrates Key Applications off Mainframe--

NEWBURY, England & ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Micro Focus[R] (LSE LSE - Language Sensitive Editor : MCRO.L), a leading provider of enterprise application modernization software, today announces the extension of its Application Migration and Modernization offering to support an expanded array of platforms and languages.

Key to this announcement is the formalizing of the Micro Focus Migration and Transformation Consortium (MTC mtc - A Modula-2 to C translator.

), a partner network of over 50 migration specialists with a proven track record in modernizing a broad variety of legacy systems. For customers, this means that Micro Focus can now support the migration, consolidation, rationalization and modernization of many more legacy applications regardless of the hardware they operate on, the language they are written in or the database they utilize.

With organizations looking to maximize their investments in existing applications while escaping the shackles and expense of proprietary or outdated hardware and software platforms, Micro Focus is now offering an unsurpassed breadth of platform choices for its low risk migration solution.

Each MTC partner (see www.microfocus.com/MTC) focuses on just one or two platforms, with each partner having complete depth of expertise while the consortium as a whole provides the unsurpassed breadth of platform coverage customers require including:

"By utilizing a MTC platform migration specialist, we have decommissioned our Unisys mainframe and we are discussing other platforms with other Micro Focus MTC members."

Other customers are reaping the rewards of the migration and modernization solution offered by Micro Focus and its MTC partners, including:

* CO-OP Financial Services CO-OP Financial Services, formerly known as CO-OP Network, is an interbank network connecting the ATMs of credit unions in the United States, with locations also in Canada and certain United States Navy bases overseas.
