Michigan: new Hall of Fame honors professionals.Thirteen individuals will enjoy never-ending recognition, as they are the first to be inducted into the Michigan Recreation and Park Association Hall of Fame. During a gala celebration at the Summit on the Park community center in Canton, Mich., in October 2005, the professionals were recognized for their extraordinary contributions to the field of parks and recreation. The 2005 inductees were: Dr. James Bristor, Retired Professor, Michigan State University Michigan State University, at East Lansing; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1855. It opened in 1857 as Michigan Agricultural College, the first state agricultural college. Harry Burns Harry V. Burns (November 11, 1922-2000) was a civil rights leader from San Antonio, Texas. Born November 11, 1922, Harry Victory Burns was named by his mother for the pre-Veterans Day, which was Victory Day.
