Miami-Dade Police Department Commits to Rugged Computing Solutions from Panasonic; Expanded Relationship Includes Integrated GPS and Wide Area Wireless from Cingular.


SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Panasonic Computer Solutions Company today announced that Miami-Dade Police Department The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) (formerly known as the Metro-Dade Police Department (1981–1994) and the Dade County Sheriff's Office (1836–1981)) is a full service metropolitan police department serving Miami-Dade County's unincorporated areas,  will outfit its officers with fully rugged Panasonic(R) Toughbook(R) CF-29 notebook computers.

Miami-Dade Police Department is charged with the safety of approximately two million citizens who live within a 2,109 square mile area. In order to accomplish this formidable task, it utilizes the services of approximately 2,900 sworn officers and 1,700 support personnel.
