Fast Fact: Mexico's history dates back more than 8,000 years, when Indian people arrived from the North. Advanced Indian civilizations developed between 250 and 900 A.D. The last of these were the Aztec. They were conquered by the Spanish, who first reached Mexico in 1517. Mexico won independence from Spain in 1821.
