Mexico hosts REEEP meeting.The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership REEEP, the "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership" is an active, global public-private partnership that was launched by the United Kingdom along with other partners at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in August 2002. (REEEP REEEP Renewable Energy and Energy Efficient Partnership ) held a planning meeting for the Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. and Caribbean region in Mexico City Mexico City Spanish Ciudad de México City (pop., 2000: city, 8,605,239; 2003 metro. area est., 18,660,000), capital of Mexico. Located at an elevation of 7,350 ft (2,240 m), it is officially coterminous with the Federal District, which occupies 571 sq mi . The objectives of the meeting were to define the priorities for the Latin American region in the financial, policy and regulatory areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy, while updating the action plan for the region, and to elect a regional representative to the REEEP Program Board. Mexican Energy Secretary Fernando Elizondo Barragan inaugurated the meeting that highlighted the signing of an agreement between REEEP and the Energy Regulatory Comission (CRE CRE Commercial Real Estate CRE Corporate Real Estate CRE Commission for Racial Equality (Scotland) CRE CCD (Charge Coupled Device) and Readout Electronics CRE Camp Response Element ). As a result of this agreement CRE will receive resources from REEEP to undertake a study for the evaluation of the benefits that may be accrued to the electricity grid through the development and interconnection of renewable energy projects.
