Mexico: Eni lets contract for Appaloosa development.Byline: sanjayV03 Eni SPA has started development of deepwater Appaloosa oil field in what it calls the Greater Longhorn area of the Gulf of Mexico Noun 1. This may be in "shallow" or "deepwater". equipment at the Appaloosa well, in 2,825 ft of water on a unit that includes Mississippi Canyon Blocks 459, 460, and parts of 503 and 504. The work will tie the subsea well to the Corral conventional jacket platform in 620 ft of water on Mississippi Canyon Block 365 at the edge of the gulf shelf off Louisiana. Technip also will handle project management and surveys, umbilical and flying-lead installation, and precomissioning and dewatering of the flowline. Eni expects Appaloosa production to start early next year and to peak at 7,500 b/d. The company is making the Corral platform, previously called Crystal, an oil and gas processing hub. It estimates reserves and exploration resources of the Greater Longhorn area at 100 billion boe. The company recently brought deepwater Longhorn gas field, on Mississippi Canyon Blocks 502 and 546, on stream at the rate of 200 MMscfd via tie-back to the Corral platform (OGJ OGJ Oil & Gas Journal Online, Nov. 3, 2009).
