Metso to supply fiber line in India.

METSO TO SUPPLY FIBER LINE IN INDIA. Metso Paper, Helsinki, Finland will supply a new hardwood fiber line to Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd., Kagithapuram, India. Delivery includes the main process machinery, pumps, field instruments, engineering, and all the processes from cooking through bleaching. Metso Paper's SuperBatch digesters will be used in the pulp digesting process. Production capacity of the line will be 300 metric tons/day of fully bleached ECF pulp. Eucalyptus is the primary raw material.

In addition, Metso Paper will supply a new bleaching process for the Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers's bagasse fiber line. Delivery includes main process machinery, pumps, field instruments and engineering. The new bleaching process for the bagasse line will have a daily capacity of 500 tons ECF pulp, making it the biggest of its kind in the world. The pulp is produced in two existing fiber lines, and the new bleaching system will be common for both lines.

The total value of the two orders is approximately EUR 25 million (US$ 29 million). The new systems are scheduled to start up at the beginning of 2007.

* The Metso Paper-supplied Paper Machine Number 6 containerboard making line at Papierfabrik Palm in Worth, Germany, has set a new speed world record for containerboard machines. The machine produced corrugating medium of 100-105 g/[m.sup.2], running at an average speed of 1463 meters/min for 24-hour period on November 10, 2005. Its top speed was 1507 meters/min.

* The Kruger mill in Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Canada reached a milestone earlier this year, wrapping its 10 millionth roll on a Streamline kraft roll wrapping system supplied by Metso Paper 14 years ago.

* Metso Paper will modernize the Paper Machine Number 6 finishing line at UPM's Kaipola mill in Jamsa, Finland. Start-up of the upgraded LWC paper finishing line is scheduled for August 2006. The value of the order is approximately EUR 9 million.
