Metso awarded several contracts.

METSO AWARDED SEVERAL CONTRACTS. Metso Paper, Helsinki, Finland will deliver a pulp drying line including three complete baling lines to Suzano Bahia Sul Papel e Celulose S.A., Brazil, as part of Suzano's expansion project at its Mucuri mill. The value of the order is about EUR 100 million (US$ 118 million). Trim width of the drying line will be 9990 mm and the production capacity 3340 air-dried metric tons/day of eucalyptus pulp. Metso Paper's scope of delivery includes bleached stock screening, wet-end, dryer, high-speed cutter and three baling lines. Start-up is scheduled for the second half of 2007. Metso Paper will provide engineering, procurement and construction services (EPC). A significant part of the delivery will be locally manufactured in Brazil and pre-assembled in Metso Paper's large facilities in Sorocaba, Brazil.

IN OTHER METSO NEWS:

* Lee & Man Paper Co., Kwun Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong ordered a kraft liner board machine for its mill in Changshu, China from Metso Paper, Helsinki, Finland. The machine will have an annual capacity of 400,000 metric tons and is scheduled to start up in December 2006. It will have a wire width of 7250 mm and a design speed of 1150 meters/min. Total value of the single-supplier delivery order is approximately EUR 40 million (US$ 48 million). The order includes Metso Automation's metsoDNA machine control systems.

* Metso Paper's contract for a board making line to Modern Karton Sanayi Ticaret AS, Istanbul, Turkey has become effective. The value of the agreement is around EUR 80 million (US$ 95 million). A letter of intent was signed in February 2005 and the order is included in the order book for the last quarter of 2005. The board line will be started up in the last quarter of 2007 and its capacity will be 400,000 metric tons/yr of containerboard grades.

* Following a Metso-supplied rebuild, Papierfabrik Schoellershammer's Board Machine Number 5 has reached a machine speed of 1002 meters/minute. The rebuilt PM 5, which produces testliner and fluting, started up successfully in September 2005 after a 16-day shutdown. Including the press section, dryer section, size press, reel, and tail threading equipment, the objective of the rebuild was to raise the machine speed from 870 meter/minute to over 1000 meters/minute, increasing production capacity from 185,000 metric tons/yr to 220,000 metric tons/yr.
