Metrowerks launches new CodeWarrior 7 at Apple Expo Paris.

, FRANCE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1995-- Metrowerks, Inc. launched today the latest release of its flagship Mac(TM)-hosted CodeWarrior(TM) programming tools.

CodeWarrior 7 includes many new features including the following: - the new universal `plug-and-play' CodeWarrior Integrated Development Environment See IDE.

++ for Win32 also supports 2-machine debugging of applications running remotely on Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95 operating systems from Macintosh-compatibles. In addition, Metrowerks has licensed Microsoft Corporation's Microsoft Foundation Class application framework for x86-processor development allowing Mac-hosted CodeWarrior developers to build MFC-based applications on the Macintosh for the first time.

CodeWarrior 7 Gold incorporates the Magic Cap development tools, including a developer release object compiler and linker, that work within the CodeWarrior IDE. CodeWarrior 7 Gold also includes the CodeWarrior Magic/MPW toolkit and General Magic's Magic Cap object-oriented development environment. The Magic Cap operating system runs on the Sony Magic Link Personal Intelligent Communicator See PIC.  and the Motorola Envoy Wireless Communicator.

Metrowerks' new compilers and linkers for CFM68K support the new runtime architecture from Apple Computer designed for OpenDoc development as well as future operating systems. These tools are provided in support of OpenDoc development on Macintosh. Metrowerks already supports OpenDoc development on PowerMacintosh.

CodeWarrior 7 features the usual array of additional development tools including Apple Computer's MPW v 3.3, MacApp(R) v 3.1.4, MacApp v 3.3.a4, and MacApp2PPC. Under the Microsoft agreement, Metrowerks will distribute the Microsoft Foundation Classes (programming) Microsoft Foundation Classes - (MFC) Software structures in C++, the Windows base classes which can respond to messages, make windows, and from which application specific classes can be derived.  with CodeWarrior 7 Gold as part of its Mac-hostedWin32 development tools for Windows 95 and Windows NT on the x86.

A new CD-ROM-based, low-price version, the CodeWarrior Programming Starter Kit, is also being launched at AppleExpo Paris. This new US$79 product will allow entry-level programmers to get started programming on the Macintosh and thus open a new market for Metrowerks. The CodeWarrior 7 Gold subscription package has a suggested retail price (SRP SRP - A data link layer protocol. ) of US$399 and includes 2 additional CD-ROM releases in January, 1996 and May, 1996. The CodeWarrior 7 Bronze subscription for 68K development SRP is US$149 and includes 2 additional CD-ROM releases in January, 1996 and May, 1996. The CodeWarrior 7 Academic subscription package SRP is US$99 and includes 2 additional CD-ROM releases in January, 1996 and May, 1996. CodeWarrior Academic requires proof of academic affiliation. The CodeWarrior Programming Starter Kit SRP is US$79. International editions are available for each product localized in the following languages: traditional and simplified Chinese, French, German, Kanji (human language, character) kanji - /kahn'jee/ (From the Japanese "kan" - the Chinese Han dynasty, and "ji" - glyph or letter of the alphabet.
