Obvious subjects such as population get extensive coverage, but there are intriguing in·trigue n. 1. a. A secret or underhand scheme; a plot. b. The practice of or involvement in such schemes. 2. A clandestine love affair. v. explorations of more obscure territory, such as hospital bed ratios (Manila Manila (mənĭl`ə), city (1990 pop. 1,601,234), capital of the Philippines, SW Luzon, on Manila Bay. Manila is the center of the country's largest metropolitan area, its chief port, and the focus of all governmental, commercial, industrial, is an outstanding winner), commuting time (many contenders), and pollution (Manila wins that too).
