Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc. (MFN) (Nasdaq:MFNX) has signed an agreement with America Online, Inc. (NYSE:AOL) under which MFN will independently market the co-location and optical IP services of its AboveNet Communications subsidiary to content providers seeking superior connectivity to AOL data centers.

Under the agreement, content-provider customers of AOL and MFN will have access to MFN's extensive, global one-hop Internet network, with its industry-leading public and private peering points. This dedicated optical network, with up to multi-terabit per-second capacity will be directly connected to AOL's network and will provide superior delivery of content to AOL members, including rich media services like video streaming.
