With the establishment of this local presence, Metrologic intends to maximize sales of its expanding line of products in the retail and industrial sectors of France.

This joint venture is the latest in a series of major developments that have taken place this year, including the formation of a joint venture in January 2000 between Metrologic Instruments GmbH and ERIA's company located in Spain. This joint venture follows other recent developments in Europe, including the formation of Metrologic Instruments UK Limited, and the appointment of InCom Norge AS as sole distributor in Norway.

Metrologic will have a 51% ownership interest in the joint venture company, which has 15 employees and is based close to Charles de Gaulle Airport, just north of Paris. "During the past five years ERIA has sold Metrologic products exclusively and proven to be a valuable asset to our company in France," explains Benny Noens, Vice President of European Sales and Managing Director of Metrologic GmbH. "Last January Metrologic and ERIA formed a joint venture company, Metrologic Eria Iberica S.L., in Spain. This joint venture in France has been handled in similar fashion, with similar intent to grow our business, expand our customer base and participate more aggressively in the French market through our existing distribution channel." Mr. Noens continued, "We hope that existing customers of ERIA and Metrologic will now be serviced even more efficiently, and ERIA's customers in France will now have access to the considerable technical resources available from our European headquarters in Puchheim, near Munich, Germany."
