Art center goes green: Downtown's Emerald Art Center is among 65 buildings that the U.S. Green Building Council has selected for a pilot program on environment-friendly design.
The council, an authority on energy-efficient design and construction of buildings, will recognize and certify the environmental performance of the buildings in a program called Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, provides a suite of standards for environmentally sustainable construction. for Existing Buildings.
