Nominating convention to be held: The Libertarian Party The Libertarian party was founded in Colorado in 1971 and held its first convention in Denver in 1972. In 1972 it fielded John Hospers for president and Theodora Nathan for vice president in the U.S. general election.  of Lane County will hold a convention Wednesday to nominate candidates for Districts 8, 12, 13 and 14 in the state House of Representatives and for District 7 in the state Senate.

To participate as a voting delegate or a candidate, citizens must have been continuously registered as a Libertarian during the 30 days before the convention and must be registered to vote in one of the electoral districts being represented.

The convention will be held at 7 p.m. in the Training Room of the North Building at the Eugene Water & Electric Board, 500 E. Fourth Ave.
