Metro Newspapers purchases Cupertino Courier.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1995--Metro Publishing Inc. will acquire the Cupertino Courier from Select Communications Inc. of Los Altos Los Altos (lôs ăl`tōs, lŏs), residential city (1990 pop. 26,303), Santa Clara co., W Calif.; inc. 1952. There is diversified light manufacturing. , principals at the two companies announced.

The Courier will merge with The Neighbor March 15, the Cupertino-based weekly newspaper that Metro began publishing in 1993, Dan Pulcrano, president of Metro Publishing Inc., said. The combined newspaper will publish as the Cupertino Courier, he added, in keeping with a community tradition that dates back to 1947.

The Courier was purchased by Select Communications from the Tribune Company The Tribune Company (NYSE: TRB) is a large American multimedia corporation based in Chicago, Illinois. It is the nation's second-largest newspaper publisher, responsible for the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Hartford Courant  of Chicago two years ago. Select will continue to publish the Los Altos Town Crier CRIER. An inferior officer of a court, whose duty it is to open and adjourn the court, when ordered by the judges; to make proclamations and obey the directions of the court in anything which concerns the administration of justice. , owner and president Paul Nyberg said.
