(NYSE: BE) is one of the world’s largest providers of management and technology consulting services to Global 2000 companies and government organizations in 60 countries. . Version 2.1 of the Metreos product includes over 40 improvements and new features. Some of the more important new capabilities include:
-- Cisco SCCP Call Control Protocol Support
Metreos adds support in the Metreos Application Runtime
for the SCCP protocol -- adding to a list of supported
protocols that includes JTAPI, H.323, SIP, AXL-SOAP,
Extension Mobility, IP Phone Services and DeviceListX. The
Metreos Application Runtime shields developers from the
complexity of these telephony protocols and allows
applications that are developed on the platform to use any
of the supported protocols. In addition, the Metreos
Application Runtime protects the reliability of the IP PBX
from misuse of the protocols due to developer inexperience
and protocol immaturity.
-- SCCP Proxy Application
Metreos adds the SCCP Proxy Application to its growing
suite of applications to solve a common problem related to
remote access to a company's VoIP system. The SCCP Proxy
Application enables an enterprise to deploy IP phones at
its employees' homes without the need for costly VPN
equipment, configuration and support. SCCP Proxy provides
an SCCP-aware application layer gateway with integrated
security mechanisms that can be further tied into
corporate policies to control access from remote
locations. When coupled with other mobility applications
from Metreos such as ActiveRelay, Metreos customers are
able to deploy powerful solutions that have a significant
positive impact on the productivity of mobile and remote
workers.
-- Remote Agent Application
Metreos adds another packaged application to solve a key
limitation of Cisco's IPCC contact center software. Users
of Cisco IPCC have in the past been unable to allow agents
to work from home without a broadband Internet connection
and VPN connection to their office. With the release of
Metreos Remote Agent Application, contact center agents
can work from home or mobile locations using their normal
PSTN telephone.
-- Text-to-Speech
Metreos adds text-to-speech to its Metreos Media Engine.
Developers can now take advantage of integrated,
easy-to-use text-to-speech media processing when building
applications using the Metreos Visual Designer.
-- Peer-to-Peer Media Processing
Metreos adds peer-to-peer support to the Metreos Media
Engine. This enables developers to create applications
that negotiate media between two endpoints (for example,
two IP phones), allowing the media to flow directly
between the endpoints rather than through the Metreos
Media Engine. This greatly enhances the ability for
applications to be deployed centrally while keeping the
audio path local to specific geographic regions.
