Metaldyne awarded contract for Ford transmission components.
Metaldyne, Plymouth Plymouth, city, England Plymouth, city (1991 pop. 238,583) and district, Devon, SW England, on Plymouth Sound. The three towns that Plymouth has comprised since 1914 are Plymouth, Stonehouse, and Devonport. , Mich., was awarded a contract by Ford Motor
Co., Dearborn, Mich., to supply the overdrive (processor) Overdrive - An Intel Pentium processor which fits into a socket designed to accomodate an Intel 486, or into a special upgrade socket on the motherboard. and center support modules
for Ford's new six-speed automatic transmission for light trucks
and SUVs.
The company will produce various parts for the transmission,
including aluminum diecast center support components. Metaldyne also
will provide machining, welding welding, process for joining separate pieces of metal in a continuous metallic bond. Cold-pressure welding is accomplished by the application of high pressure at room temperature; forge welding (forging) is done by means of hammering, with the addition of heat. and assembly operations for the
production of the modules.
