Metalcasting sand stakeholders meeting held in Philadelphia.More than 100 industry representatives, state and federal regulators, and university researchers gathered Dec. 1 in Philadelphia to discuss ways to increase the beneficial use of metalcasting molding sand. The meeting provided participants with information on the characteristics of molding sand, different applications where the sand currently is used and a snapshot of the regulatory picture for beneficial reuse in several states. Participants agreed to build alliances with other trade associations, help craft a molding sand Best Management Practices (BMP (1) (BitMaP) Also known as a "bump" file, it is the native, bitmapped graphics format in Windows. A BMP can be saved in several color options: 1-, 4-, 8- and 24-bit color provide 2, 16, 256 and 16,000,000 colors respectively. BMP files use the .BMP or . ) guide to help metalcasting firms start a beneficial reuse program, and work on a mapping project to help metalcasting facility owners or managers find endusers in close proximity to their plant. In addition, state regulators voiced a strong interest in increasing the beneficial reuse of molding sand and committed to working with the EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid.
