Message from the incoming National President.

I welcome the opportunity to serve as your National President for the coming year. From my perspective, ASMC provides a great service to our community. During my term, I plan to emphasize the following:

* Certification program, both training and testing

* Workforce development standards, recruiting, and retention incentives

* Financial management modernization

* Local chapter events, where information can best be disseminated to our workforce

Finally, together, we will strive to improve an already great event--the National PDI in New Orleans. We will work toward increasing even more the variety and the challenge of the programs offered there.

I look forward to meeting many of you during my travels. Please feel free to contact me with your ideas and concerns. The varied missions of the Department of Defense and the Coast Guard will present many challenges to the financial management community. I know that we are up to managing the Department's scarce resources to meet these challenges.

Mr. Lawrence J. Lanzillotta

National President, 2002-2003
